Maxis Free Passport Holder!

With a title like that, you probably know this is going to be a tongue-in-cheek post. Maxis is currently having a promotion for its wireless broadband product and they’re giving away free modems for three of their broadband packages – the 1.5GB, 3GB and 6GB packages, which are going for RM 48, RM 68 and RM 98 respectively. The deal is quite simple – pay RM 150 upfront for the “free” modem, and enjoy a RM 30 rebate over 5 months (RM 30 x 5 = RM 150 which is your upfront payment, geddit?). I am fairly certain that this rebate amount can be used to offset your monthly bill of whatever package you subscribe to.

The modem they’re “giving away” is the Huawei E1762 with the Maxis branding plastered all over it, and it is a very capable modem, capable of 7.2Mbps down, and 5Mbps up.
